Triple bill of documentaries exploring the history of Britain's railways and the development of the rail industry. 'GWR', which focuses on the Great Western Railway, features lines such as the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway and takes a look at various locomotives including the 4079 Pendennis Castle, the 6000 King George V and the Eurostar. 'LMS' looks at how the London Midland and Scottish Railway was affected by the movement from steam engines to electrical railways and features various locomotives such as the Stanier Class 8F and the Stanier Class 5 AKA the Black Five. Finally, 'British Railways' examines the movement from steam engines to electrical railways and the decrease in the use of this transport, paying particular attention to British Railways and the Woodhead Route, the Metropolitan Line, the Somerset and Dorset Railway and the locomotives that were used for coal mining in South Wales.
