Feature-length BBC drama portraying the early lives of John Eric Bartholomew and Ernest Wiseman, who became household names as comedy double act Morecambe and Wise in the 1960s. Daniel Rigby and Bryan Dick star as Eric and Ernie, who first meet as child performers in the run-up to the Second World War. Despite some initial success on stage and radio, the men eventually go their separate ways following their service in the war and a disastrous first television outing. But Eric's mother Sadie (Victoria Wood) persuades her son to reform the act, leading to one of the most successful comedy pairings in television history.
