One of the most annoying aspects of soccer management games is the fact that you can come up with that devastating tactic or team combo while you're sitting on the bus!

So, it's a warm welcome to Football Director on Nintendo's DS. The game comes from the experienced hand of Roger Womack, who worked his way through the classic Championship Manager among others.

It features 3,800 players from all over the world and, as importantly, comes with the official sanction of the English Football League for authenticity.

As you'd expect from a footy management game, it's up to you to select the correct blend of youth and experience using the transfer market. You must then bond your players into a tight unit that understands and can implement the many formations and tactics that are available to you on via the wonders of the DS stylus.

Once you've got your team sorted out, it's time to control the match from your technical area, suffering the agonies of insult, injury and defeat as well soaring on the wings of victory.

It's not only your players that you have control over, though; bear in mind that your support staff of specialists and scouts also need leadership. And once all the man management tasks have to be done, you'll also need to repair to your office in order to sort the books out and ensure that your club is running at a profit.
