Gran Turismo is back to see out the PlayStation 3 in style, with the most advanced entry in the series yet!

The game features more cars than ever - no less than 1,200! They range from current FIA GT3 category racers to supercars such as the Pagani Huayra '11 to classics such as the BMW 507 '57 and souped up road cars like the Ford Focus ST '13. There are even concept cars put together with brands such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and even Nike, giving players a glimpse into the future of the automotive industry as they race cars that don't even exist yet. As ever, the level of detail that has gone into each and every one of them is painstaking, and they all benefit from the across-the-board upgrades Polyphony has put into place.

The visuals have certainly been given a boost. The textures and lighting are a clear jump from anything seen in Gran Turismo before, and the wire models of individual components bring a level of detail we haven't seen before.

The vehicle physics have benefitted from a (perhaps more noticeable) improvement. It's really difficult to fault the way cars lean into corners, for example. That's something developer Polyphony credits in no small part to partnerships with the likes of Japan's Yokohama Rubber and Germany's KW Automotive advising on things like tire resistance and suspension. The join the ranks of companies like Nissan all pitching in to make things as authentic as possible.

Along with improvements in physics come some serious refinements to the handling. Particularly with a force feedback wheel and pedals, the game is closer than it's ever been to replicating the actual handling of a car.

There are more tracks than ever, with 37 different locations and 100 layouts. Newcomers include the likes of Ascari, Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Mt. Panorama and Willow Springs. Even better, the conditions on the courses reflect those seen in real races!

If that lot isn't enough, the upgraded course maker launches post release and will even enable players to use GPS data from their own car to map their own tracks!
