TV drama based on Jake Arnott's bestselling novel, the sequel to 'The Long Firm'. The story begins in the summer of 1966 when three policemen are brutally murdered and follows three separate men, over the next two decades, whose lives are forever changed by the slayings. Detective Sergeant Frank Taylor (Rafe Spall) is an ambitious go-getter whose best friend was one of the victims. He is set to endure a lifetime's guilt over the tragedy which he knows could have been avoided. Journalist Tony Meehan (Steven Robertson) was a witness to the slaughter. As well as giving him the scoop of the century, the murders awaken a violent rage within him and he becomes obsessed with finding the man responsible. War hero turned petty thief Billy Porter (Mel Raido) is the perpetrator whose plan went horribly wrong. He now has to spend his life on the run from his past and the men who want to bring him down.
