Historical action drama set in late 16th century France starring Julien Boisselier as the eponymous French nobleman and soldier who becomes one of the country's most popular kings. When the Catholic dowager Queen, Catherine De Medici (Hannelore Hoger), arranges for the Protestant Henry of Navarre (Boisselier) to marry her daughter, Margaret of Valois (Armelle Deutsch), in what seems a bid to unite the two sides of the religious divide, the stage is set for one of the most notorious and bloody episodes in French history. The murder of several thousand Protestants who come to Paris for the wedding becomes known as the St. Batholomew's Day Massacre. With the help of his new wife, Henry narrowly escapes death and so begins an epic struggle for the French throne...
