In 'High School Musical (Encore)' (2006), an all-singing, all-dancing musical romance set in an all-American high school, Troy (Zac Efron) is the popular captain of the basketball team, while shy and brainy Gabriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens) is a member of the academic club. When they both secretly audition for the leads in the school's musical, they find themselves challenging the unspoken rules of East High School as they fall in love and reach for the stars. In 'High School Musical 2' (2007), the exclusive Lava Springs Country Club summer resort hires Wildcat basketball hero Troy (Zac Efron), his genius girlfriend Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), and their two best friends. The parents of scheming Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) own the resort, and she wields her remarkable power in an attempt to win Troy away from Gabriella. Eventually Troy must decide between a bright future with a scholarship, or true love.
