Leonard Bernstein conducts masterworks by Gustav Mahler from the Grosser Musikvereinssaal in Vienna and the Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv. In 1984, Bernstein conducted Lucia Popp, Walton Groenroos and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in a remarkable performance of 'Des Knaben Wunderhorn' in Tel Aviv. A few months before his death, Bernstein led Thomas Hampson and the Vienna Philharmonic in three of Mahler's masterworks in a concert at Vienna's Musikvereinssaal - the 'Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen', the 'Rckertlieder' and the 'Kindertotenlieder'.
