Drama from acclaimed Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini. The film contains two parallel stories. One is set at an undetermined, possibly mythical, point in the past and follows the inhuman rampage of a pair of cannibals played by Pierre Clmenti and Franco Citti. The second story follows a wealthy family of German industrialists. Herr Klotz (Alberto Lionello) has amassed a fortune but his son, Julian (Jean-Pierre Laud), takes little interest in his father's business and the rivalries it entails. Neither does he appear to have much interest in his fiance, Ida (Anne Wiazemsky). Julian much prefers to lie down in the family's pigsty. His behaviour seems unfathomable, but is it?
