In Portal Runner, a 3D Tomb Raider meets Jet Force Gemini-style adventure, players assume the role of the luscious Vikki G, a passionate investigative reporter bent on making a name for herself in the industry. But her eagerness leads her to entrapment, courtesy of arch-rival and nemesis, super spy Bridgitte Bleu. After being hurled into a strange new world via a portal, Vikki and her feline colleague Leo, must overcome hundreds of potentially life-threatening situations to find a way home.
The 3D world of Portal Runner is vast and incredible varied, thanks to the nature of the game's plot. The game has been carefully split into five unique areas, each with five further sub-stages. The lush environments range from toy stores (a la Army Men) to prehistoric dinosaur worlds.
But there are over 35 different creatures of hell bent on your destruction, not to mention a series of mind-bending puzzles that further stunt your progress. Fortunately, such immense challenges help to expand the longevity of Portal Runner. Players are encouraged to proceed with caution, using all available wits, while simultaneously maintaining a healthy supply of destruction ammunition.
Five modes of play, including multi-player stages, help to ensure that Portal Runner will appeal to many audiences. While Portal Runner bears several similarities to a number of well-known video games, there is something different about this game - something good.
