Cult classic period horror film starring a young Jack Nicholson as Lieutenant Duvalier, a young officer in Napoleon's army, who pursues the beautiful and mysterious Helene (Sandra Knight) to the castle of the elderly Baron Von Leppe (Boris Karloff). There, he discovers that Helene is the pawn of an old witch bent on driving the Baron to suicide. Trapped in the ancient and eerie castle, he struggles to makes sense of the increasingly chilling situation in which he finds himself. Francis Ford Coppola is producer and uncredited co-director.
