Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm

This release in the burgeoning Tom Clancy series represents the first ever online Ghost Recon experience for the PlayStation 2. As such, the game offers all the usual intense squad-based military combat that we've come to know and love, but this time complete with all the Internet-based multiplayer fun of the PC version.

Bundled with the Island Thunder expansion, Jungle Storm offers two distinct campaigns with regard to the single-player aspect. The first, set in the sweltering jungles of Cuba, sees you take command of the famous elite team of Green Berets, on a mission to bring down a sinister drug-funded warlord and his mercenaries, and secure the elections for a free country. Taking place a few months later, the second adventure is set in Colombia. Having recently been rocked by explosions courtesy of the same drug cartel, the Colombian government enlists the help of you and your team of Ghosts to get in there and deliver a dose of deadly justice.

Where the game is at its best though is in the aforementioned multiplayer modes. Split-screen or online, co-op or adversarial, a total of 31 different maps play host to the action across a wide variety of diverse game modes. Go online and you also get the benefit of statistics tracking and rankings, as well as text and voice chat courtesy of a dedicated Ubi.com lobby.

Another game to make use of the PS2's Voice Communicator, Jungle Storm rather fittingly gives you full voice control over your squad, as well as allowing you to give orders to the second team. All the rules of engagement can be given, with you being able to create your orders by mixing behaviours, team command and objectives.

With a host of other added elements and improved features, such as a new threat indicator, intuitive character selection and improved controls, Jungle Storm is most certainly the best offering for the series on the PS2, especially if you've got your machine online.
