Double-bill of French comedy dramas. In 'Would I Lie to You?' (1997), Eddie Vuibert (Richard Anconina) is broke and going nowhere fast. When he is involved in a street fight, a local fabric-seller comes to his aid and Eddie is soon mistaken for being Jewish. Given a job and a new home, Eddie can't believe his luck - but when he falls for the boss' daughter Sandra (Amira Casar), he starts to worry that the truth might be found out. In the sequel 'Would I Lie to You Again?' (2001), Eddie is trying to help the local Jewish shops deal with a monolithic department store muscling in on their business. Meanwhile, the penniless Serge (Jos Garcia) is mistaken for his wealthy cousin and becomes engaged to Cochana (Elisa Tovati), the beautiful heiress to a wealthy furniture kingpin.
