Mindscape's Brain Trainer

After the success of Dr Kawashima's Brain Training and Big Brain Academy both for the DS, it didn't take a genius to work out others would follow suit and jump on the brain training bandwagon. Mindscape's Brain Trainer is the first ever game in this genre made for PC users. Publishers Mindscape put much of the game's emphasis on fun, while at the same time improving the overall power of your grey matter. This, in turn will hopefully enhance your performance when it comes to everyday situations and tasks. You are given the option to play a daily range of activities and can review your progress to see whether or not you can improve your Memory, Concentration and Logic skills. In Brain Trainer, no question is ever asked twice, as there are an infinite number of questions. This obviously adds to the longevity of the title.

There is a selection of 15 exercises, each divided into five different areas: Mathematical, Spatial, Deduction, Memory and Verbal. Each area is designed to provide both a detailed and intensive mental workout. Players are able to see how they are advancing in each of these areas whenever they wish via the line charts in the progress screen.

The exercises included in the game range from Sudoku puzzles, word searches, matching pairs and Kakuro, to more traditional spelling tests and mental arithmetic - all of which are designed to improve your brain power. As with any physical exercise, motivation is paramount, not to mention remembering to work out on a regular basis. Don't worry! Mindscape's Brain Trainer has covered every possible angle with its reminder system, where players can use the game's calendar to set reminders or simply to display disgust when exercises have been missed.
