Dalton Trumbo writes this classic Western starring Glenn Ford and Jack Lemmon. After losing all his money in a high-stakes poker game, cattleman Tom Reece (Ford) signs over a piece of his business to hotel clerk Frank Harris (Lemmon) in exchange for a one thousand dollar loan. Frank has long dreamed of being a cowboy, and also sees the deal with Tom as a chance to win the hand of the woman he loves, ranch owner's daughter Maria Vidal (Anna Kashfi). However, not only does Maria's father forbid them from seeing each other again, life on the ranch also proves to be very different to what the young tenderfoot had expected.
