Double bill of psychological horror films based on the novels of Stephen King. Drew Barrymore stars in 'Firestarter' (1984) as Charlie McGee, a young girl who has the ability to start fires purely by the force of her mind. Charlie's difficulties in coming to terms with her unusual gift are intensified when the CIA decide they want to use her for their own ends. She just wants to be treated as a normal choice, and with the help of her father (David Keith), does everything she can to prevent herself from becoming a pawn in the government's game. Martin Sheen, George C. Scott and Louise Fletcher co-star. 'The Dead Zone' (1983) is directed by David Cronenberg. Johnny Smith (Christopher Walken) is a schoolteacher who, after surviving a terrible road accident, emerges from a five-year coma cursed with psychic powers that enable him to see into the future. When he then meets Presidential candidate Greg Stillson (Martin Sheen), Johnny has a vision of the apocalyptic disasters which would befall the world if this man should ever win office, and realises that it is his destiny to prevent such a thing from ever happening.
