Pushed out of France in 1940, the British are able to fight back in North Africa, mounting highly successful operations against the Italians. When the German Africa Korps intervenes, the British are initially defeated, before counter-attacking successfully in the two battles at El Alamein and Mareth that push the Germans out of Africa.
