British musical drama starring David Essex and Ringo Starr as friends who make good on the rocky road to rock and roll stardom. Set in the 1950s, the film follows Jim MacLaine (Essex) as he dreams of stardom but finds himself in a series of dead-end jobs until he meets Mike (Starr). Starting out in a small-town band, the two find success as the local holiday camp act and move on to bigger and better things. The cast also includes Rosemary Leach, James Booth, Billy Fury and Keith Moon.
