The length of a coastline cannot be precisely defined. We should all take note of this, please! For this mathematical phenomenon, which is explained with impressive terms such as fractal, infinite dimension and Haudorff measure, has given its name to a fantastic young band. A band which present 'Welf & Eiger' - the music was rehearsed at Welfenstein Castle in the South Tyrol, and recorded in Bern in the studio of the university at Eigerplatz. The quintet are active in exactly that space between ocean waves and landmass, between sea spray and scree, movement and rigidity, fluid and fixed. This area is all one experimental field. Taking a measuring device yields no conclusion. The more exactly you measure, the larger the result, diverging to infinity.
