Miriam Hyde - Dancing Shadows

Miriam Hyde (1913-2005) was one of the foremost Australian composers and pianists of the 20th century. Her compositional style was lyrical, post romantic-impressionist and always from the heart. In addition to her compositions, she wrote almost 500 poems, 10 of which are included on this disc of her music for flute and piano. The release introduces the exciting partnership of Australian-Swiss flautist Bridget Bolliger and British pianist Andrew West. They bring Ms Hyde’s delightful music to the attention of listeners and flute players alike.Miriam Hyde was also a recognised poet, and the album concludes with a selection of her poetry read by the renowned Australian actor Gerard Maguire.
