Made-for-TV drama, set in the 1950s American South, following the story of a family torn apart by injustice. The Messenger family, comprised of dad George (Gerald McRaney), mother Kathryn (Tyne Daly) and five children, including Phyllis (Alicia Silverstone), struggle to eke out an existence as poor farmers. The only thing they have is each other. However, when the family are incorrectly convicted for an unpaid debt, the parents are sent to labour camps and the children absorbed and dispersed through the juvenile care system. It will take great determination and courage for George and Kathryn to pull their family back together again.
