Six weeks after being abducted by an alien at Spruce Lake in up-state New York, Carol Hillary gives birth to a son, Mark. But Mark is no ordinary child: his uncontrollable powers reduce the family home to an inferno, claiming Carol's life and resulting in Mark being sent away to begin a new life. Twenty four years later, Mark returns to his birthplace in search of his roots. Desperate to learn more about his mother he goes to the town's Sheriff, whom he knows was her friend. However, the Sheriff denies all knowledge of Mark's past, and soon Spruce Lake bears witness to another series of terrifying extra-terrestrial occurrences.
