Extended cut of the final film in Peter Jackson's epic big screen adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy trilogy - which won all eleven Academy Awards it was nominated for, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. As Frodo and Sam (Elijah Wood and Sean Astin) make their way through Mordor, Gandalf (Ian McKellen) rides to Minas Tirith to warn Denethor (John Noble) of Sauron's plan to attack Gondor. After reclaiming his birthright, Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) leads the outnumbered forces of Gondor and Rohan into battle against Mordor's army, determined to avert Sauron's gaze so Frodo can complete his quest to destroy the Ring by casting it into the fires of Mount Doom.
