Drama written, directed by and starring Bob Hoskins. In an unidentified country in an unknown war, a young soldier - Tom (Dexter Fletcher) - deserts the army in fear of his life and his sanity. Disguised in women's clothing and strange face paint, he is eventually taken in by a band of travelling gypsies who believe him to be the 'Rawney', a strange, mad old woman of legend who can perform magic, control animals and bring good luck. But strange forces are conspiring, which will take more than luck to overcome. Hoskins plays Darky, the gypsy leader.
