Three films starring Warren Beatty. 'The Parallax View' (1974) is a political thriller in which Beatty stars as Joe Frady, an ambitious young news reporter who gets in way over his head when, along with seven others, he witnesses the assassination of a prominent politician. His subsequent investigations lead him to uncover a far-reaching conspiracy involving one of the world's largest multinationals, the enigmatic Parallax Corporation. Beatty writes, directs and stars in 'Reds' (1981), which tells the life story of the radical socialist journalist John Reed, who became the only American ever to be buried in the Kremlin. Focusing on Reed's relationship with Louise Bryant (Diane Keaton), it follows their life together as they move from bohemian Greenwich Village, to the seafront cottage where Bryant has an affair with playwright Eugene O'Neill (Jack Nicholson), to the battlegrounds of the First World War and Russia during the time of the 1917 revolution. The epic story is intercut with real-life interviews with those who knew the couple, including the novelists Henry Miller and Rebecca West. In 'Heaven Can Wait' (1978), quarterback Joe Pendleton (Beatty) is in training for the Superbowl when he is killed in a freak accident. Removed to the afterlife, he complains that there must have been a mix-up, that he wasn't ready to die yet, and it turns out that his heavenly hosts agree with him. However, he can't be returned to his previous body because that has already been cremated, so instead he is returned to the body of a recently-murdered millionaire. Now, while practising to play football once again, Pendleton must elude those who killed the millionaire in the first place, and also attempt to woo a beautiful anti-corporate campaigner (Julie Christie).
