At its peak London was Britain's leading port. The Port of London Authority (PLA) controlled nearly 70 miles of the tidal Thames as well as the great dock systems and countless wharfs. These four films capture the glory and splendour of London's Docklands from the 1920s to the 1960s. 'Waters of Time' features some fine aerial footage of the Docklands in the 1960s. 'The Vital Link' gives a detailed account of the PLA's work and an excellent tour of the five main dock systems. 'London Capital City' tracks the journey of the merchant vessel Hinakura from New Zealand to London. Finally, 'Port of London 1921' is a silent film recording the expansion of the docks in the 1920s.
